Club members Mike and Kay Cummins own a
1935 Ford Tudor Sedan.
The sedan was given to Mike and Kay in
1994 by her father who found the car in a collapsed barn in Wisconsin. The car
was completed and on the road in the spring of 2001.
The car has Mustang II front suspension
with tubular control arms and Aldan coil-over shocks and a 1981 Corvette rear
suspension with owner fabricated tubular rear control arms; four-wheel power
disc brakes; 350 ZZ4 Chevrolet engine with dual quads; TH350; Vintage Air;
hidden stereo and dash controls; numerous body mods; owner fabricated plug-in
head lights; electric exhaust cutouts; and a custom leather interior. The
tire/wheels are – 205/60 x 15 on 15 x 6 front, 255/70 x 15 on 15 x 8 rear Boyd’s
“no-name” torque thrust style wheels.
The car is owner built with the exception
of final body work and paint (Rex & Restorations, Tempe, AZ), flames (Squeeg’s
Kustoms, Mesa, AZ) and upholstery (Lance Troupe Custom Street Rod Interiors,
Phoenix, AZ). Those that have seen it can attest that the undercarriage is as
clean and detailed as the exterior body.
Mike and Kay have traveled over 19,000
miles in the car since it was completed in 2001. On their most recent trip the
car averaged 19.4 mpg over approximately 1,100 miles.
Mike works as an aircraft accident
investigator for Honeywell Aerospace (for a few more years the way the economy
is going!), and Kay makes jewelry and other crafts at her own company.

Jerry and Muffy Williams
Members Jerry and Muffy Williams own a 1933 Ford
Coupe (photo below). It has a TCI chassis,
Chevy 350 crate engine, a nine-inch Ford rearend and a Minotti body.
The car was finished in 1999, and they have 37,000 miles on it. They bought
a 1941 Packard coupe at a Goodguys event in
Colorado Springs a couple of years ago, street rodded it and then
decided that it was too big for their tastes so it now lives in
Seattle. Jerry and Muffy joined ASRA 12 years ago and have been
involved as club secretary, Prescott chair and a couple of Christmas/White
Elephant party hosts.
They have been inactive members since September,
when Muffy began treatments for Ovarian Cancer at the Mayo Clinic, but hope
to get back on the road this summer.
Jerry spent 21 years in the Air Force, and then
retired from his second career as president of a large marine meteorology
company in
Sunnyvale, CA. They have been active in Boy Scouts for years in
Texas,
Alaska and
Nebraska and they both hold Scouting's Silver Beaver award. Muffy's
hobby is making dresses for little girls who have none, and has made over
350 since she began the project.

A word and some photos from Gene Elliott...
Hello
We left for
British Columbia, Canada on Mar 31st, the pics are from our trip home. We
had sunshine all the way home which was good as the '56 had no windows. It should
be in the body shop next week to have body work & paint, hoping to have it back
in AZ. in October in one color red and driving. Keep the messages coming as we
enjoy the info, Thanks
Here are some pics of the '56 which just got out
of the Body Shop today, May 26th. I am going to start the final assembly and
hope to drive it back to Mesa in October and at that time we will get the
upholstery done in Mesa.
Gene Elliott
An update from Gene - July 2008 - Some recent
pictures from Canada below...
The boat is a real "water hot rod", it is 65 ft
long with 2500hp and easily does 28 knots. The family that owns
this yacht is a hot rodder and each year invites all his hot rod buddies
and spouses on a cruise. The other picture is the Vancouver Water
Front where the yachts and ships come and go. Still working on the
56 Ford Pickup and trying to get ready to leave for Mesa in October with
hopes of being at the Nov 1st Car Show.
More photos from Gene! Looks like he is making some real progress on the
56. With plans to leave Canada on September 28th, it is likely he
will be in Phoenix to attend the meeting next month.

Rick & Becky Johnson’s 1955 Chevrolet Pickup; 350 engine, 400 turbo, 10 bolt rear end and AC of course. Rick & Becky have enjoyed the hot rod hobby since
1998, enjoying various car shows around Arizona and other western states.
Also pictured is
Rick & Becky's 1932 Hi-Boy Roadster. Pearl white, 502 cubic inch
engine. This is the second hot rod built by Rick. The first build was a
T-bucket 1998 – 2000. This Hi-Boy was finished in 2003 and won the prestigious
award of best HomeBuilt at GoodGuys Southwest Nationals in 2003.

Bob and Shirley (Ragan) Holland
Bob and Shirley have a winter residence in Mesa, AZ. Bob spends October
to mid-April in Arizona and makes period visits during the hot summer months.
Their permanent residence is in Woodbury, Minnesota. Bob's interest in
cars goes way back! Let's just say that he was born with a passion for
motorized vehicles; from Cushmans to Harleys and ultimately custom cars and the
nostalgic hot rods. Bob worked as an auto-body man for 29 years and
decided he needed a change so he returned to school and learned the auto
upholstery business. He and his wife Shirley (who also attended auto
upholstery school) owned their own auto upholstery business for 13 years.
Bob sold the business and retired 5 years ago. He kept 2 of his machines
and has a small shop in his garage in Minnesota where he occasionally picks up a
few small jobs here and there. Bob became a certified collector car
inspector and appraiser after attending an training certification course.
Shirley works at Northwest Airlines as a Charter Coordinator. Bob and Shirley currently own a 56 Ford 2-door Sedan (still under construction)
and a 29 Model A that sports a 348 engine, primered body, with a chopped top,
and wide whites.
